Policies/Legal Stuff

Definitely Start Reading Here

This page contains policies applicable to use of my Tough Money Love blog and to use of material displayed in my blog.  If you use the ToughMoneyLove.com site for any purpose, you must abide by these policies.  Your continued use of this site after you read these policies means that you agree to them.  It’s as simple as that.  If you don’t want to abide by and agree to these policies, I regret that I am going to have to ask you to leave.  (But I hope that you will change your mind and stay.)

Age Limitations

I like folks of all ages.  However, if you are under the age of 14, you need to click along to another blog.  All of the personal finance hard truth and tough love I talk about here is really intended for people older than 14.  I don’t want any youngster accidentally disclosing personal information on my site.  Please come back when you are older.  Until then, work hard in school and save your allowance.

Privacy

I am a strong believer in privacy and I strive to protect the privacy of users and subscribers of this site.  Nevertheless, effective use of a blog like this means that some information about your visits to Tough Money Love will be captured.  That’s the way this technology works.  Let me explain:

We record information about how people access the Tough Money Love RSS feed.  We do not collect any personally identifying information from or about RSS subscribers.

Our feed service provider (Feedburner) collects the e-mail addresses of people who subscribe to the Tough Money Love feed via e-mail.  We do not disclose any specific subscriber information except as may be required by law.  Non-identifying aggregated information (such as the total number of subscribers) may be disclosed.

We record in server logs certain information about how people access this site and in site usage software. This information may include your IP address, referring site, search terms used, browser type, and operating system.  (Everyone does this - not just me.)

E-mail Communications

Mr. ToughMoneyLove likes to receive email from visitors.  If you do email me, the messages automatically become the property of the owner of this site (that would be me).  The contents of the messages may then be used, copied, or re-published for any reason or purpose that I can think of.  I will not disclose any personal identifying information about you unless such information is part of your email message or email address.

Comments

Any comments you leave here are your responsibility.  You agree to keep your comments respectful and suitable for reading by folks of all ages and lifestyles.  You also agree not to defame other people or to comment about illegal activities.  (I don’t like illegal activities - let’s make that clear.)  I reserve the right to remove comments or to edit them for obvious errors.  If your comment includes a site URL, it may be published along with your comments, but e-mail addresses are not disclosed.  Also, if you leave a comment, you are giving me the right to display the comments on this site and to write about your comments in future posts.

External Links

I place links to other sites on my site.  Because of the constantly changing nature of content and of links on the web, I do not vouch for the reliability of those other sites or their privacy policies.  Go there and participate at your own risk.

Use of Material You Read Here

If you read the About Mr. ToughMoneyLove page, you will learn that I am not a finance professional.  I do not provide advice of any kind (financial, legal, or otherwise) on this site.  I provide commentary, information, and opinions.  Readers who leave comments may do likewise.  If you decide to take action (or to not take action) based on anything you read here, you do so entirely at your own risk.  You agree not to blame me if something turns out differently from what you expected.  In fact, you agree not to blame me for anything in your life.  I think that’s only fair since we don’t really know each other that well.

Copyright and Trademark Policies

Everything I write here is original (excluding any quoted material) and is protected by copyright law.  As the author, I own the copyright.  If you want to copy or re-publish any of my posts in their entirety, I may let you but you will need to ask first.

Tough Money Love is the title of my blog and also signifies the source of the commentary and information that is published here.  Therefore, I do not want anyone causing any confusion by using my blog title in any way for themselves without my permission.  Please don’t do that.  When it comes to legal stuff, that bulldog logo you see on my site is not just for show.

Advertising

All advertising revenue from this site is donated to my favorite charities.  Mr. ToughMoneyLove advertises only products and services that I personally use or recommend.  I do my best to be clear about what is advertising and what is not.  I do not accept compensation for anything I write in posts or for mentioning or linking to other businesses or websites in my posts.  I do not accept compensation to review books.  I write what I want and I read what I want without outside influence.

That about covers it.  Thanks for visiting.  Come back often.
