This is a busy week for Mr. ToughMoneyLove. Many projects due at work, preparing tax returns today as a volunteer, finishing our personal tax return, and Holy Week obligations at church. (I can’t sing but they tolerate my electric bass playing!) Read more

Thanks to your support, my post made it out of the Elite 8 and into the Final Four. This means that my favorite charity – Saddle-up – will receive a donation from Free Money Finance.
Now I am going for more but I need your help – again.
To vote for me in the semi-finals, go to http://www.freemoneyfinance.com/2009/04/free-money-finance-march-madness-final-four.html
Scroll down to the comments and vote “disgrace.”
You might want to read the articles in the other semi-final and vote for one. I’m supporting “Pursuit.” They are all excellent.
Thanks again.

Please Vote Again to Support My Charity

I am back again to ask readers to take 15 seconds to vote online for one of my older posts.
The Free Money Finance blog is running a “March Madness” competition where different PF bloggers submit a favorite post that is matched up against others. Readers are asked to vote on one of the posts by leaving a comment.
The winner is a charity designated by the winning blogger. My charity is Saddle Up, a program that teaches children with disabilities how to ride horses. It is a wonderful program where my wife is a volunteer instructor. They could use the extra money that my winning post would give them.
Thanks to your help, my entry “The College Student Debt Machine: A National Disgrace” has won rounds 1-3 and is now competing in the Elite 8. If I win this round, Saddle-Up will receive a donation.
You can vote by visiting the competition page and leaving the word “disgrace” in a comment. Voting ends Wednesday morning.
Thanks again for your support.

My Weekly Personal Finance Reader

I found a few interesting and amusing writings this week to share:
My oldest son understands my attitude about young adults who go to law school or who enter an MBA program because they have nothing better to do. He sent me a link to this funny piece about a year of law school is now mandatory for 25 year old Americans.
Also on the cynically humorous side (my favorite side) was this post on “8 Signs Your Money Hates You.”
Generation X Finance compiled a nice list of free online finance courses.
I discovered a new blog this week called Bad Money Advice. I don’t agree with everything he says but I like the way he writes (his cynicism reminds me of me) and the topics he selects. He apparently has a lot of time on his hands to polish his work because he is an unemployed former hedge fund manager. Anyway, check his stuff out for yourself.
For some additional things to read, visit this week’s Carnival of Personal Finance and the Money Hacks Carnival (where my article was an editor’s pick).
Have a warm and sunny weekend.

I have spent many hours this weekend on the nuts and bolts part of blogging, e.g., upgrading the software that operates both Tough Money Love and my Go To Retirement blog. I did this primarily for security reasons, as there are lots of folks out there who are actively trying to hack WordPress blog sites. Some of my fellow bloggers are experiencing this now. Read more

I have family visiting this week from Florida (Mrs. ToughMoneyLove’s cousin Bill and his family). Bill’s wife is trying to score a slot on a musical reality show and tryouts were this morning. Don’t know how that will turn out but it did require a substantial investment of time and money yesterday getting a demo CD produced at a local recording studio. Everyone has dreams and you need to take your shot when opportunity arises, so kudos to her and to Bill for his support.
I read a few money things of interest this week. Read more
