France is Great Except for the French

When the French are upset about having to retire later, they don’t wait for elections to change policy. They just shut the whole damn country down until they get their way. Unions run the country and the French run the unions. Ergo, France is a great place to be except for the French.

The anti-pension reform strikes have strangled transportation as usual, but that wasn’t good enough. Now the refineries have been targeted. Fuel prices are shooting up and shortages are expected within the week.

If I were a tourist heading to France, I would purchase strike insurance.

Shades of things to come here soon…

  2. Rick Beagle says:

Yep, those French sure are idiots.

And those unions? How dare they stand in the way of someone wanting to make an extra buck on the backs of their slaves, err workers? Dontcha know that Unions prevent competition? If only they had Fox there things would be right as rain….

    Whatever.

Yea Ricky! The nerve of them!

BTW, how’s your job hunting plans at age 65, 67 or 70 (depending on your DOB) going?

    • Rick Beagle says:

I am sorry MasterPo, but honestly, I have no idea what you are referring to? If this is another talking point from the noise machine that is Fox, I missed it. Please elaborate.

      Peace.

Just responding to your usual Kool Aid enduced rant about Fox News and Unions.

The French can now retire with full gov bennies at 60.
The French gov wants to raise that to 62.
    How awful!

Meanwhile, here in the States retirement is 65-67-70+ depending on your DOB.

You think you can remain gainfully employed at age 67?

Start training by saying over and over “Would you like to Super Size that?”

      MasterPo.

You will never win a debating contest if your beginning sentence and your finishing sentence put you squarely on opposite sides of the same topic. You think it is foolish for the French to try and reign in a raise to the retirement age, while admitting how foolish our policy of making people in their upper sixties remain in the job market?

While I have no plans to rely on Social Security, I do admire the French for saying “no”.

Besides, have you ever been to France? Pretty nice place imho.

      Peace.

Been there, done that. France is dirty. Not as dirty as other places in Europse but I saw nothing romantic about it. Not in any rush to go back.

  6. Another Reader says:

The French have the attitude of a teenager rebelling against parental rules. They throw temper tantrums and they are, of course, always right. When they smugly do things their way, they start howling when their plan fails.

I’m old enough to remember 1968. Nothing has changed, except the folks from 1968 are retired (at 60) and the current disgruntled masses are their children and grandchildren.

I almost feel sorry for their politicians that have to be the stern parents. Well, they are French politicians, so maybe I don’t feel very sorry for them.
