Long time readers know that Mr. ToughMoneyLove is a fan of inflation-protected government bonds, namely TIPS (Treasury Inflation Protected Securities) and Series Savings Bonds, a/k/a I Bonds. Now is a good time to consider your options for investing in some I-Bonds.

I have already posted a lot of information about I Bonds, mostly at my Go To Retirement blog. So this post will be short, consisting of links to earlier information and leading up to some current data to help you decide if I Bonds are a smart move for you today.

1. For information about the features and benefits of I-Bonds, read Why I Like I-Bonds in My Retirement Portfolio.

2. This is how I use I-Bonds as part of a retirement emergency fund.

3.  Inflation is always a risk and I-Bonds can help manage that risk for the long term investor.

4.  I-Bonds can form the foundation for a plan for guaranteed retirement income.

Finally, read today’s short post on whether you should buy I-Bonds now. There you will learn why I’m leaning toward buying some before May 1.

If you want to learn more of the nuts and bolts of I-Bond purchase and ownership, visit the government’s Treasury Direct site.
