Reflect and Find Meaning in Your Money
This is a busy week for Mr. ToughMoneyLove. Many projects due at work, preparing tax returns today as a volunteer, finishing our personal tax return, and Holy Week obligations at church. (I can’t sing but they tolerate my electric bass playing!)
Reflect on What Money Means to You
Easter week is a good time for all of us to reflect and renew. This blog is about money and personal finance. But these are only tools to be used for a greater benefit. I struggle at times to remember this important fact, but not this week.
Just now I sent out an invitation to our extended family to join us this summer at our lake house. This will be the 6th year in a row that we have had the honor and pleasure of hosting a large “family at the lake” gathering. Such an event allows us to renew and re-invigorate family ties. Money helps that to happen, and that is is a good thing.
Presumably you read blogs about personal finance to learn from others. I encourage each of you to find meaning in your quest for more knowledge about money. Use this week as a catalyst for putting that knowledge and your money to good use. Rest assured that I join you in that quest.
A Final Reminder about Tax Deadlines
If you are like us and waiting to file your return, do not forget to carefully consider last minute funding of an IRA, particularly a Roth IRA if you are eligible. You may still fund that IRA for 2008, as long as it is completed before you file your return. There are some very good reasons for funding an IRA for both 2008 and 2009.
If you have to write a check to the IRS this year (as we do), hold your nose while doing so. Unfortunately, our government has chosen not to be good stewards of our tax dollars.
Tomorrow you will read about today’s experiences at the Tax Aide office. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
