Welcome to the Financial Hard Truth – Can You Handle it?
Welcome new readers and visitors to Tough Money Love, one man’s blog about the hard truth of money and personal finance. This is a place for me and for you to read and share information and opinions on all aspects of our financial lives.
If you are new to this site or new to the world of blogging in general, I encourage you to keep reading this message to learn more about what’s here and how you can participate.
What This Blog is About
As it says in the header, I blog the hard truth of money and personal finance. I not a finance professional but I have plenty to say and write about money issues that affect us as individuals, as family members, and as taxpayers and voters. I am a baby boomer so compared to a lot of other personal finance bloggers out there (and there are some very good ones), I have been around the block a few times. I’ve made financial mistakes of my own and have had an opportunity to see plenty of mistakes made by others. If you want to know more about Mr. ToughMoneyLove, please read my About page.
I am the sole writer, editor and publisher of content here at Tough Money Love. You will also read comments from other readers who probably know more than I do about a lot of the issues that I talk about. If you have something to say, please by all means leave a comment. At the end of each article or post, there will be a place for you to do that.
What is Here for Readers
I write on many different financial topics that are important or interesting to me. Those topics include the nuts and bolts of financial planning, retirement planning, and investing. I am also quite interested in the relationship between money and behavior and the science of economics as it affects us as taxpayers and consumers. So I write – and sometimes rant – on these topics as well. I hope that they will be interesting to you.
My posts are organized into categories and sub-categories. You can see all of categories listed across the navigation bar above. If you place the cursor on one of the categories, a list of sub-categories will drop down. For example, “Taxes” is a sub-category under “Financial Planning.”
Finding What’s New and Recent
I write a new post (some people call it an article) here at Tough Money Love this blog 6-7 times per week. Usually, I write about issues or information that I am thinking about in my own life and my journey toward financial freedom. Sometimes I will find something in the news or on another blog that interests me and I will write about it here. (I read or scan the news feeds from close to one hundred other blogs and online boomer and financial news sites.)
The easiest way to receive everything that I write here is to subscribe by feed reader or by email, which you will be invited to do at the end of this post.
There are three ways to find the most recent content from the home page of my blog. First, usually my most recent post will be the first one displayed in the “Featured Content” window on the home page. Just click on the image to read the entire post. Or, you can select the “Recent Posts” link in the top navigation bar or in the right sidebar. A third way is to click the “Blog” page on the navigation bar. That will take you to a page that has all of my posts in reverse chronological order.
Finding Your Way Around
There are many ways to find your away in and around my Tough Money Love blog site. You can start with the categories and sub-categories on the navigation bar. Clicking on one of the categories will take you to a page (or pages) where all of my posts in that category are listed with short excerpts. If you want to see a list of all posts in a category, you can click on the “Index” link in the navigation bar. The index pages show the post titles organized by category and sub-category.
You will also find “breadcrumb” links above the title of each post. The links in the breadcrumbs will help you find your way back to where you started. At the end of each post will be a list of related articles that you can select as well.
Finally, you can run key word searches in the search box near the top of the page.
Please Participate and Come Back Often
I probably learn as much or more from readers than they learn from me. Either way, I enjoy and appreciate feedback and comments from readers. It makes the experience of blogging and reading blogs more enjoyable and beneficial for everyone. So please join in by leaving comments. Don’t worry, I can handle the hard truth just as much as I can dish it out.
