The whole &quot;Social Security Gone&quot; scenario is just so much fiction. In fact there&#039;s plenty of money in the SS fund to last far beyond the predicted date we all fall off the edge of the earth.

Since word was leaked, a few days ago, that everyone in my job classification at the Great Desert University is about to be laid off, you can bet I&#039;ve been studying the latest SS report of my alleged entitlement. I could &quot;retire&quot; now, but can&#039;t afford the cost of health insurance on something like half my present (fairly modest) income. But if I&#039;m laid off, I may have no choice but to enjoy the $1300/month income SS supposedly will pay me forthwith. Hey...it&#039;s better than nothing!</description>
