		<description>MGL - I agree that for some, being debt-free would be elevated to &quot;goal&quot; status because of the level of satisfaction or contentment it brings to the borrower.  For me, it less about emotion and more about reaching a position where less income is needed to be financially independent.  That means getting rid of the income-sucking debt.</description>

Even though you view it as a strategy rather than a goal, I would consider being debt free to be one of my goals. Specifically, I want to be mortgage-free, not because of the financial freedom it provides, but because as a matter of principle I want to own my homestead outright, free of any outside interests.</description>
