They are just incapable of making long term plans, budgeting, saving, reading a prospectus, etc. Scares the HECK out of me because these are otherwise 'intellegent' adults who you & I trust and rely upon everyday for the activities of modern life. But they either can't or simply won't (lazy) plan or save for themselves. That's why starting in 2008 the gov lets employers automatically enroll employees in 401ks. Otherwise many just never would! People just don't give a crap and then expect you and me who did plan and save and sacrafice to have a retirement savings to gleefully give some of it to them. I see it everyday from people 25 to 45 y/o! (pardon the tone - it gets me very angry to think about!)
